Capsules
What is a Capsule?
Section titled “What is a Capsule?”A Capsule is a living collection - not a folder that sits still, but a smart album that grows and evolves with your library. It’s a way to gather photos and videos around a theme, memory, or story without manually picking every single item. Capsules understand what matters to you and help you organize it.
Creating a Capsule
Section titled “Creating a Capsule”You have two ways to build a Capsule, and you can mix and match them.
Manual Capsules are the classic approach - you browse your library and select specific media that belong together. Pick moments from that trip to the coast, that weekend with friends, or any other story you want to preserve. Hit save, give it a name like “Summer 2025”, and you’re done.
Criteria-based Capsules are where the magic happens. Instead of picking individual photos, you save a search. For example: “all photos from July” or “media with mountain landscapes” or “anything tagged with birthdays”. Orbyte remembers that search and keeps the Capsule updated automatically. As you add new photos to your library, ones that match your criteria slide in without you lifting a finger.
AI Suggestions
Section titled “AI Suggestions”Once you’ve started building a Capsule, Orbyte may suggest items that look like they belong based on what’s already inside. You’ll see a gentle prompt - maybe a photo from that same trip, or another moment that fits the vibe. You can accept the suggestion with one tap, or skip it if it’s not quite right. There’s no pressure and no penalty - Orbyte is just trying to help you find memories you might have forgotten.
Editing and Managing Capsules
Section titled “Editing and Managing Capsules”Capsules are flexible. Change your mind about what belongs? Remove media from the Capsule or add new items anytime. Want to rename it or update your search criteria? Just open the Capsule and edit. Everything syncs across your devices.
Sharing Capsules
Section titled “Sharing Capsules”Capsules can be shared with Groups - your family, a team, or a friend circle. When you share a Capsule, everyone in that Group can see the same collection and can also add suggestions or contribute media of their own. It’s a great way to co-create memories together.
Real-world Examples
Section titled “Real-world Examples”- “Summer 2025” - A criteria-based Capsule that auto-gathers all photos from June through August. New beach days from your phone automatically appear.
- “Cooking adventures” - Manual Capsule of recipes you’ve made, plated dishes, and kitchen experiments. AI occasionally suggests related food moments.
- “Every photo of the dog” - A criteria-based search for faces tagged with your pet’s name. Grows every time you snap a new photo with that four-legged friend in it.
Tips for Great Capsules
Section titled “Tips for Great Capsules”Start simple - a theme doesn’t need to be complex. The best Capsules often tell a tight story (a specific trip, a season, a person, a hobby). If you’re building a criteria-based Capsule, your search doesn’t need to be perfect on day one. You can refine it as you go.
Capsules work best when you actually revisit them. Set a reminder to open one every few months and rediscover what’s inside. They’re meant to be lived in, not just created and forgotten.
