Uploading Your Memories
Getting Your Media Into Orbit
Section titled “Getting Your Media Into Orbit”Uploading to Orbyte is straightforward. You have two main options: upload from your desktop using drag-and-drop, or beam photos directly from your phone using a QR code handoff.
Desktop Upload
Section titled “Desktop Upload”Click the upload area in the Orbyte app (or drag files directly into the window) to start sending photos and videos. You can pick a single file or a whole folder - Orbyte will queue them up and start processing right away.
Once the upload begins, you’ll see progress bars for each file. If you need to pause, you can do that any time - your files will wait. When you’re ready to resume, just pick up where you left off. This chunked pipeline means you can upload large videos without worrying about a single interruption ruining the whole batch.
A quick note: keep the Orbyte tab open while uploading. If you close it, the upload stream will cut - but don’t worry, you can always start again later.
Mobile Upload Via QR Code
Section titled “Mobile Upload Via QR Code”On your phone, open Orbyte and look for the QR code in the app. Scan it with your phone’s camera, and your camera roll will open automatically. Pick the photos or videos you want, and they’ll beam right up to your Orbyte library. It’s as fast as sharing to any other app.
What Happens After Upload
Section titled “What Happens After Upload”Once your files arrive, Orbyte springs into action. Each photo and video goes through a processing pipeline where Orbyte:
- Detects and clusters faces so you can browse by “who’s in this”
- Analyzes the scene - indoor, outdoor, landscape, portrait, etc.
- Recognizes objects and things - trees, cars, food, animals, and more
- Extracts any text it finds - signs, documents, receipts, etc.
- Spots duplicates and similar shots so you can clean up easily
- Flags blurry or low-quality images in case you want to delete them
This all happens in the background. You can explore your library right away, but Orbyte will keep adding detail as it processes each file.
Supported Formats
Section titled “Supported Formats”We support all the common formats you’d expect:
- Images: JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, and more
- Videos: MP4, MOV, and common video codecs
For a complete list of supported formats, see the Reference Guide.
Upload Tips
Section titled “Upload Tips”- You don’t need to babysit the upload. Feel free to browse other websites or apps - just leave the Orbyte tab open.
- Uploading photos from 5 years ago? No problem. Orbyte will process older files the same way it processes today’s photos.
- Large video files are handled just fine. The chunked upload means you won’t lose progress if your connection hiccups.
