Storage

Every Orbyte account has a storage limit that depends on your plan. Your Free plan gives you 10 GB to start. Upgrade to Individual Standard for 500 GB, Individual Pro for 2 TB, Family Standard for 2 TB shared, or Family Pro for 4 TB shared.

All your photos and videos count toward this limit. When you upload an image or video, Orbyte stores it at its original quality and size. There’s no compression or downsizing - what you upload is what you get back.

Storage is simple: your account has one limit. Everything you upload - whether it’s to your personal library or a group you’re part of - comes out of the same pool. If you’re on a Family plan, that pool is shared with your family members, so keep an eye on who’s uploading what.

Go to Settings and tap Storage to see exactly how much space you’re using and how much you have left. You’ll see a color-coded bar that shows your usage at a glance. Green means plenty of room. Yellow means you’re getting close. Red means it’s time to make some decisions.

The storage page breaks down what’s taking up space - how much is in your personal library versus your groups. This helps you spot which group is growing fastest or if your personal library needs attention.

Your personal library and groups all share the same account storage. There’s no separate bucket for groups - it’s one pool. This means if you’re part of a family, everyone’s uploads (personal and group) count toward the 2 TB or 4 TB family limit.

On Family plans, each member can upload to the shared library and to groups, and it all comes from the same storage pool. This keeps things simple - no juggling limits between personal and group spaces.

If you’re running low on storage, you have options. First, think about what you actually need. Browse your library and look for duplicates, blurry shots, or photos you don’t care about anymore. Deleting them frees up space immediately.

If you’ve got videos taking up a lot of space, consider exporting the ones that matter most and removing the originals from Orbyte. You can always keep a backup on your computer or cloud storage.

If you need more space long-term, upgrade your plan from Settings. Your upgrade takes effect right away, and if you’re mid-billing cycle, we’ll prorate the cost. You’ll get the new storage limit instantly.

Keep your Faces organized - if you’ve tagged thousands of faces in your library, cleaning up duplicate or incorrect tags won’t save space, but it makes searching much faster.

Create Capsules for photos you want to preserve without taking up extra space. Capsules are just collections - they don’t use storage. Use them to gather your best shots, trips, or moments in one place.

If you’re on a Family plan, have a quick chat with your family about what’s worth keeping. One person’s video collection might be using half your shared storage, so it’s worth knowing what everyone has uploaded.
